On August 23, 2026, I virtually attended the Information Physics Institute 2026 Conference (ICIP 2026), hosted by my friend and colleague Melvin Vopson, PhD, CEO of the Information Physics Institute and Associate Professor of Physics at the University of Portsmouth, UK, and creator of Genetic Entropic Barcoding Technology. I have been following Dr. Vopson’s work for the past three years. That research has directly led to a new and promising patented technology known as Entropic State Authentication (ESA), which I have been actively researching for over a year and writing about for the past five months.

 

At the conference, Bryan Doreian, PhD, Systems Architect at SecureX Technologies USA, presented Entropic State Authentication. ESA is still in early-phase development. It holds significant potential to one day address major challenges in human liveness detection and continuous authentication. At a high level, it aims to become a leading security methodology against AI-driven attacks and spoofing.

 

The Vision

 

ESA builds on Genetic Entropic Barcoding principles. Rather than relying solely on static credentials, passwords, traditional biometrics, or one-time checks that AI can increasingly imitate, it seeks to establish whether a real, living presence is continuously behind an interaction. In a world where AI agents can steal logins, clone voices, emulate devices, or hijack sessions, continuous proof of authentic presence could close critical gaps that conventional defenses leave open.

 

The longer-term aspiration is clear: a physics-anchored approach to identity that raises the difficulty of automated impersonation, session takeover, and sophisticated spoofing while preserving privacy and usability.

  • -Clear scoping of what is proven versus what is promised

  • -The specific post-login and presence problems it aims to solve now — including AI agents operating with stolen credentials, session hijacking, emulator-based fraud, and related automated threats

 
SecureX Technologies is developing its MVP under the SecureEntropic™ initiative. The near-term focus is on closing the post-login continuous-presence gap. The approach is designed to work with zero new hardware, using the smartphones people already carry, while delivering privacy advantages through no retained biometric data. Integration is intended to be capital-efficient, plugging into existing stacks rather than requiring entirely new infrastructure.

 

In practical terms, the current effort prioritizes strong resistance to fully automated bots and AI agents that lack a genuine human-held device, as well as session and cookie theft, walk-away takeovers, and emulator fraud. Other threat vectors receive more measured ratings as validation continues. The company has been deliberate about what ESA does not claim: it is not positioned as a complete replacement for passkeys or phishing-resistant credentials, nor as an unspoofable oracle that identifies a specific individual under every condition.

 

Looking Ahead

 

Dr. Doreian’s presentation at ICIP 2026 — in a setting dedicated to the deep connections between information, entropy, and physical systems — provided an ideal forum to discuss both the scientific grounding and the engineering path forward. The conference, organized under Dr. Vopson’s leadership, brought together researchers exploring precisely the kinds of information-physics principles that underpin ESA.

 

The technology is not finished. The core signal continues active validation. The MVP is being refined with an evidence-first mindset. Yet the direction is purposeful: continuous, presence-oriented authentication that works alongside existing identity tools, respects privacy by design, and targets the fastest-growing class of AI-enabled threats.

 

As AI-driven cybercrime continues to evolve, approaches that move beyond static checks toward verifiable, continuous presence will matter. ESA is one such effort — still early, grounded in ongoing validation, and focused on solving concrete post-login problems today while building toward broader capabilities tomorrow.
